District 18/20 Counselors Page
First of all thank you for helping out with our pow wow. This is a great event to help the boys to earn merit badges and work toward their Eagle Rank. We have had some great success thanks to our terrific counselors. I'll be emailing you soon with some tips. Please follow the steps below to make sure you are all up to date. The date of the pow wow is February 9th and 23rd 2018. The address of the pow wow is 1900 West 13400 S in Riverton.
There will be four 90 minute sessions each day starting at 8 am until noon. You will have 4 class periods so the first hour of each day will be the same scouts. We will provide a roster for each of your class periods. Each scout will then have had 3 hours of class time for each merit badge. To view the class times in a new tab (click here).
We will provide each boy a list of the prerequisites. You will want to cover all the other requirements in your 3 hour class period. To view merit badge requirements and prerequisites (click here).
We often have counselors who can only make it 1 of the 2 days. This is ok provided that you find someone to fill in for you. Some merit badges only take 2 hours to complete. If you find you have more time then necessary we ask you to have a guest speaker or talk about careers in the field for your merit badge.
I would plan on being at the Pow Wow from 7:00 to 2:30 for set up, class time and take down.
If needed you will be required to bring your own Audio/Video devices. We do not have access to any digital equipment including TV's, DVD's, Computers, Projectors etc...
You should bring your own chalk to use on chalkboards or your own white board/pens to write on if needed. There are chalkboards in the classrooms.
Each boy should bring his own pencil and worksheet with all the requirements for each merit badge. We will email you with the most up to date information so please watch for new emails from [email protected]
We will provide a pizza lunch for everyone.
There are just 3 things we need to get from you as a counselor. If you are already a registered counselor then just email me a copy of your current Youth Protection Training. Everyone else should read the 3 steps below to make sure we have you registered and up to date on Youth Protection Training.
If you have any questions please email me.
Thanks for all your support,
David Lane
